Bodywork
Specialties
My bodywork approach boils down to helping to restore comfort, flexibility, and ease of movement by addressing postural factors, overuse, and imbalances in strength and muscle tone. I am pleased to work with a great variety of people, including athletes, octogenarians, children, desk jockeys, doctors, and people who physically labor. I specialize in working with people affected by pain or physical challenges due to:
chronic headaches and migraines
neck and shoulder pain
hypermobility/double-jointedness/being constantly out of place somewhere or other
immune hypersensitivities or autoimmune conditions
neurodivergency
head injuries
injuries or disabilities
unknown causes
Above all, it is my pleasure to work with those who have failed to find relief, answers, or solutions anywhere else. While I may or may not be able to help I will hear you and understand--it is my passion to do my best to help you find ways forward.
I will gladly refer you to other specialists in our area if I know anyone who is a better fit for what is going on with you. Feel free to contact me if you'd just like any referrals I may be able to offer, or see my list of trusted healthcare providers here.
Technical Info
Some of my favorite bodywork tools include:
Frequent reference to"The Red Bibles"--Travell and Simons' Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction, The Trigger Point Manual, and other high quality resources
Referral to other providers as needed for nutritional counseling, naprapathy or chiropractic, manual lymphatic drainage, etc.
Readiness to collaborate with my clients' healthcare team however is helpful to our work together
Assessment of posture and movement patterns
Identification of myofascial pain referral patterns, with trigger point, deep tissue, and other fascia-focused modalities to release them
Structural load and tension balancing strategies using myofascial release and motor point activation led unwinding (comparable to Rolfing or Structural Integration)
Active and passive stretching techniques, including positional release/blocking, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, Active Isolated Stretching, and active engagement techniques.
Myofascial release, deep tissue, trigger point, motor point activation, unwinding techniques and a structural and physiologically aware approach.
Bio
I received my Massage Therapy Certificate from New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts in January, 2015. Since the beginning, my training, study, passion, and practice have been focused on technical bodywork methods aimed at efficacy in pain relief and mobility, teaching the basic frameworks of bodywork and self-care to clients, and translating the various languages of bodywork's many effective arts to both plain English and to a technical understanding.
